Unveiling the Power of Limiting Belief Systems
Taking Control of Your Life’s Path through Subconscious Re-Programming
Let’s own it and change it!
Hello, my Loves, and Happy Sunday.
I wanted to start this journey with a foundational topic in women’s health and leadership and something near and dear to my work as a Biofield therapist: the subconscious and our personal belief systems. I want to credit my mentor, Alexandria, for her incredible guidance and wisdom in this process. This article is especially for you if you feel you’ve been stuck or lost in your circumstances lately.
We are all familiar with the different variations of Albert Einstein’s statement, “You can’t solve a problem with the same mind that created it.” This seems obvious and simple, but how do we actually begin to change our consciousness? Simply knowing something doesn’t always equate to change.
In the fabric of our lives, belief systems weave a subtle yet potent thread that often operates beneath our conscious awareness. These deeply ingrained beliefs shape how we perceive the world, influencing our thoughts, emotions, actions, how we feel about or treat ourselves, and attracting situations in our lives - good or bad. The tricky part is that this happens without us even realizing it. But here's the empowering part: understanding this hidden realm of the subconscious is the key to changing the trajectory of your path or getting “unstuck.”
Imagine a pre-programmed self-driving Tesla. Like that programmed computer, our lives can be steered on autopilot by beliefs formed in childhood through experiences, culture, and societal conditioning. As humans, our brains are in Theta waves until age 6, meaning anything and everything seeps into our programming with zero filtering capability. These beliefs become the silent architects of our reality, dictating our choices and responses to outer circumstances. This means that you could be holding yourself back from your potential in any situation due to something someone said or emulated when you were too young to discern for yourself.
Consequently, you could be making choices and decisions based on things that aren’t aligned with what you want in life. Many of us have ended up in positions in our lives, feeling like we don’t even know how we got here. Maybe you’re feeling lost or participating in behaviors or circumstances that feel wrong or wasteful. Or maybe you’ve felt so close to wanting or achieving something, only to have it slip away or come to a stop.
It can also mean you are avoiding saying yes to something that would give you what you need, like the potential partner who’s actually nice to you and would treat you well, or that opportunity you aren’t seizing due to fear. That’s equivalent to the pre-programmed self-driving Tesla breaking in the middle of flowing freeway traffic. Hello, unconscious self-sabotage.
As an energy healer, I see firsthand how limiting belief systems can impact our physical health. Women often carry this in their endocrine and reproductive systems, causing thyroid and reproductive issues, as well as migraine headaches. Sounds lovely, but no thanks.
The good news is you have the power within you to change any trajectory you wish. Our brains are malleable and can change—at any age. In sessions, I’ve witnessed powerful transformations in women who come to the genuine understanding that they CAN do the thing or they CAN have that in their lives. A common theme I’m most honored to witness is seeing women realize that they deserve love in all facets (not limited to romantic love).
So, how do we reclaim the helm from the subconscious and start changing our circumstances? The simple answer is awareness.
Awareness is the compass that guides us back to conscious control. Start in a meditative state. Observe your thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations without judgment. Simply allowing. Notice recurring patterns, triggers, and reactions, especially using topics that are stressing you out, such as feeling stuck on making a decision. For example, knowing you want to do something that is for your best good, but you are stuck on pulling the trigger to get it done. Hmmm… What’s going on there? Journal it out. Journaling can be a powerful tool, tracking the threads of your belief systems onto paper.
Next, challenge these beliefs. In that meditative state, ask yourself: Are these beliefs serving my highest good? Are they based on truth or inherited fear? Where did they come from? Replace limiting beliefs with empowering affirmations (basically, say the opposite of your negative or limiting belief) while holding feelings of joy and gratitude. Affirmations rewire the subconscious, creating new neural pathways towards positive change. It has been shown that repeated affirmations while holding positive emotions like joy and gratitude reinforce the new subconscious programming more effectively.
Meditation and mindfulness play pivotal roles. They quiet the noise of the ego, allowing us to tap into our true essence and reprogram our operating systems. Through meditation, we cultivate a space of stillness where we can consciously choose our thoughts and beliefs. At the bottom of this article, I have provided a meditation you can record and playback for yourself. (Bonus: your own voice is an extremely powerful tool for healing your subconscious.)
In this journey of self-discovery, remember that growth is gradual. Patience and self-compassion are key. When you do this work, you’ll be delighted to see how your health improves, and your outer circumstances begin to change and align with your truest desires. It feels like magic :)
As we navigate the seas of our psyche, we become the captains of our destiny and the ring leaders of our environments. By shedding light on our subconscious beliefs, we can reclaim conscious control of our lives, which means more wins for you!
Enjoy your week, my Loves and happy exploring. I’ll meet you here next Sunday, where I’m excited to dive into more topics to advance your beautiful power.
Meditation:
Sit in a comfortable position, following the natural rhythm of your breath.
With each exhale, melting further into the chair.
Take a deep inhale through your nose and exhale completely through your mouth, sighing it out.
Take another deep inhale through your nose and exhale completely through your mouth, let it all out.
One more time, deep inhale through your nose, exhaling through your mouth, allowing your breath to return to its natural rhythm.
Feeling grounded and rooted in this moment in space.
Begin to slowly scan your body from head to toe, noticing where you are feeling any tension, tightness, numbness, or tingling. Allow whatever is arising without judgment or trying to change it.
Following your breath, noticing any thoughts, and simply allowing them to float by without judgment or trying to change them.
In this moment, allow your limiting belief pattern to come forward. Welcoming any thoughts, emotions, and sensations that accompany this limiting belief pattern. Breathing and allowing. Take a moment to sit with this.
As you welcome this belief pattern, begin to notice where you are carrying this or feeling this in your body. Allow these bodily sensations to take whatever form they need. Breathe. Allow these sensations to move and shift as they wish or not.
(If the sensations feel dense, heavy, or stuck, you can inhale deeply and exhale with sound. Repeat that two more times, and then return to your natural breath. You can also move your body; however, it feels good to move at this time).
Breathing into these sensations, you can begin to examine your limiting beliefs. Allow this belief to bring in any images or stories as it will without judgment. Holding space with your breath.
Once you feel you understand your limiting belief and are ready to change it, you can begin to replace it with the opposite energy. Invite joy and gratitude to fill your heart space, allowing it to grow and move into your entire body.
Begin to repeat an affirmation that is the opposite of this limiting belief. (Note: If you don’t feel ready to change this, you can revisit it as many times as you need until you are ready.)
Continuing to breathe, take your time working with this affirmation, and allow it to sink in deeper with each repetition.
Excellent! Thank you Bridget for your wonderful insight and guidance!
